Thankful for those who keep us safe...

Recent events (2 officer-related shootings this week at my sister's dept, and a shooting Daniel responded to last night) made me really think about the officers that put their lives on the line every day. They don't do it for the money. These men and women put service before self. They are our true heros!

I guess events like those of this week really make you realize what is truly important, and how fragile life really is. Take every day for what it is worth and savor the good things of life. Hug those you love closer, don't miss an opportunity to tell someone you love them.

Here is the poem my sister posted on her blog:

Police Officer Prayer

Lord I ask for courage
Courage to face and
Conquer my own fears...
Courage to take me
Where others will not go...
I ask for strength
Strength of body to protect others
And strength of spirit to lead others...
I ask for dedication
Dedication to my job, to do it well
Dedication to my community
To keep it safe...
Give me Lord, concern
For others who trust me
And compassion for those who need me...
And please Lord
Through it all
Be at my side...

And of course... the photo. (sorry about the quality. I took it with my camera phone) Here's Daniel unburying his car from the snow today...
