adventures in the mountians.

this last saturday we decided to go up to the la sals again. i think that its become our new favorite spot for saturdays in summer. it was (as always) beautiful. we decided to take another route this time - and i decided that it was time to get some updated photos of the girls.

i have these huge frames in my living room (30x40) and the photos i have of the girls are from before we moved to moab. taken almost 2 years ago. it was definitely time for an update. luckily, we had done a bit of school shopping in grand junction earlier this month and the girls had some new fun stuff to wear. ava, of course, decided to pick her own outfit. and... i just loved it so much- i let her wear it. (those orange leggings are indeed her pj bottoms)

i was getting worried because i was looking for the perfect forest-y spot. there was a lot of scrub oak. (not my cup of tea... especially not with noon lighting!) and i had to admit that i was getting a bit nervous that we wouldnt find the 'perfect spot' (because daniel was a tad opposed to going to another buggy lake!) but... we found a great little dirt road that opened up to a huge grove of aspen trees and tall grass. i was in love.

so we shot. the kids ran around. ava tripped in the tall grass and grabbed every dandelion in sight. we ate twizzlers and enjoyed the nice 75 degree day. then we decided to pack up (it was still an hour till home) and call it a day.

as we traveled home, ava started to get lathargic. the color drained from her lips. i had no idea what was wrong. she'd never acted like that before, there were no bug bites, we had just had breakfast- what could possibly cause her to act like this?  i was honestly getting really scared. and because we thought we'd only be gone for an hour or so, we didnt have anything with us. im not really a parinoid person, but i started to panic a bit. we were in the middle of nowhere. still an hour from a doctor. so we pulled over. daniel gave her a priesthood blessing. within a few minutes, the color started to return to her face and she seemed to perk up a bit. by the time we were home, she was back to her normal self - jumping off the couch and running around.

i am so grateful that even in the middle of nowhere, we can pray and heavenly father will hear and help us.

in other news... we are on the countdown to baby. furiously working to get the nursery/little girls room ready.

now if only i can find some more energy......
