our yearly book

so this year... or should i say last year... i was talking to a group of girls at our ward's super saturday. we were talking about what traditions we do for christmas. one girl had a WONDERFUL idea. she puts together a book of the year - all her photos - and sends it off to one of those book publishers and they all have something to look back on - the highlights of the year, etc.

i love this idea! i am terrible at printing photos. i know... its sad! i have so many ones i love, but i just dont seem to print them and get them up. but this year, i really wanted to do the book. so i did a bit of research. i originally started out with mypublisher. but... i realized they just couldnt print the amount of pages i had going into this. so i found blurb. you could do SO many pages. (ours came in at a whopping 213 pages!) and there are always coupons floating around. so, our hardbound, photo cover book came to a total of $67 shipped. it was great!! (and not to mention, the quality was amazing too. i was going to do the upgraded paper, until i had too many pages. so i did the standard paper. i was expecting something like printer paper - but no! this paper is amazing too! it can withstand my kids flipping through it. and i really like that!)

we display our book on our end table in our living room. i love that we all just randomly thumb through it. its a great reminder of the fun things we did last year, and a great reminder of how blessed we are. i love hearing my girls look through it and say, "remember when we went here?" or, "i loved that, that was so fun!"

we found a new yearly tradition. :)

  1. Love this, Jen! Thanks for sharing the site you used. I've only used Shutterfly in the past. I created a blog book on Blurb but never ordered it. We always make a dvd slideshow "year in review" but I so want to get it printed!
