home decor

i think one of the funnest (and most frustrating) part of moving into a new house is the decorating. im the type person that wants it all done. YESTERDAY. and because i realize that i will have to do things over time... its going to teach me patience. maybe. or perhaps i'll just pull my hair out.

the first room im thinking about (well, all of them are going to be worked on at the same time...) is the living room. in the main floor of our house, we have walnut hand scraped wood floors. much like these:

so... we will need an area rug. (still havent decided on exactly what one) and then i wanted a really nice coffee table. i was thinking about this one:
yes. im building it. because i dont want to pay pottery barn's $700 price tag. $50 in lumber isnt bad. you can build it too.

then... i got to thinking... we kind of need an entry table. you know... a place to throw our keys, mail and all that other stuff when we come home. im thinking this one from ikea. Im also going to use it as a place for all of Aly's homework, and a place to store our art supplies. Think it will work? Daniel doesnt... but he kind of got ruled out. I like the look of it, and it will fit perfectly. ;)

it wont be perfect when i move in. and probably not for a long while after. its going to be a work in progress, and it will be lots of fun putting my stamp on it. so... i will be blogging a lot of my decorating thoughts and ideas... and cant wait to see it all come together! :)
